Live tracking every train on your smartphone

This should have been done a very long time ago. But it is fine. Better late than never.

Right now, there are a few websites and apps which claim to tell you the live location of your train but that is not true. There are two ways for now.

  • Some websites take the data from the recent Railway station that has been crossed by the train. According to that data, they calculate the amount of distance that has been covered by the train.
  • Example: Railyatri
  • Some apps take the GPS data from mobile users and tell you the live location of the running train.
  • Example: M-Indicator app

From now onward, the trains will have its own GPS system. That can be accessed on an official platform, most probably the website of IRCTC.

Overall, it will be a great fact that Indian Railways is adopting technology on a larger scale.
