I love reading, and I have read a lot of good books, but when it comes down to choosing , there are two clear winners.

1. Aavarana The Veil- SL Bhyrappa

I am not a native speaker of Kannada, so I had to make do with the translated version of the Kannada original, but never does the book fail to do justice to what it wants to deliver. Lakshmi, a modern young woman converts to Islam to marry her love and uncovers the layers of religion, caste and creed which have throttled India throughout the centuries. With two timelines, one in the past and one in the present, this is undoubtedly a very good read.

2. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Set in Long Island in the 1920s, it tells the story of a young millionaire with a beautiful aristocrat. The storyline seems cringey, but it is the style of English which carries the story to heights, I'd never thought had existed. 10/10.
